The NINA-B40 series from u-blox are Stand-alone Bluetooth 5.1 low energy modules that support NFC and IEEE 802.15.4 with Thread and Zigbee. Based on Nordic’s nRF52833 chip, NINA-B40 modules support a number of Bluetooth features including Bluetooth long-range, Bluetooth mesh, and Bluetooth direction-finding. These modules are designed to act as both a transmitter and a receiver in angle of arrival (AoA) and angle of departure (AoD) direction finding and indoor positioning applications. They provide an extended communication range of up to 1400 m with an output power of less than 8 dBm. The modules measure 10.0 x 15.0 x 2.2 mm and are ideal for connected industry, smart homes, buildings, and cities, asset tracking, and eHealth applications.
The NINA-B40 modules operate over an extended temperature range of up to 105 °C. These modules are certified for Europe, US, Canada, Japan, Taiwan, Brazil, South Korea, South Africa and Australia/New Zealand. The have an internal PCB antenna, or alternatively, have a U.FL connector for an external antenna. A range of wired interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C, I2S, USB, QDEC, PDM, PWM, and ADC) are available.
