The MP-8000-RX Series from Microwave Photonic Systems are RF-Over-Fiber Optical Receiver Modules that operates from 10 MHz to 70 GHz. They support wavelengths from 1280 to 1580 nm and can be used to transport signals over distances of more than 100 Km. When used in conjunction with an appropriate RF-over-Fiber optic transmitter, they form a broadband link capable of supporting the transmission of RF signals over single-mode optical fiber. These receivers utilize high-efficiency InGaAs PIN photodiodes that are coupled with optional input variable optical attenuator, low noise RF post-amplifiers, and a variable RF attenuator. They exhibit linear behavior and combine advanced photodiode biasing and control circuits that result in a reliable high-performance operation over wide optical bandwidth. These optical receivers also incorporate a Lithium Niobate-based Mach-Zehnder electro-optic modulator and high-power Distributed Feedback (DFB) laser diode which ensures both low noise and high dynamic range link performance over varying frequency, temperature, and optical loss budgets.
The MP-8000-RX Series receiver can handle an optical input power of up to 15 dBm and provide an RF gain of up to 30 dB (post-amplification). They have Built-In-Test (BIT) diagnostic capabilities that provide remote status and monitoring of received optical power, summary alarm status, system power, photo-detector bias, temperature amplifier current, and attenuator setting. They are available in flange mount or chassis mount (MPS-1911 or MPS-1914 compatible) enclosures with 2.92 mm (K) female RF connector and FC/APC optical connector.
They are ideal for use in SATCOM interfacility links, microwave antenna remoting, electronic countermeasure systems, secure communication, phased array antennas, wideband delay line systems, and test and measurement applications.
