The RTP4118 from Boonton is a Real-Time True Average Power Sensor that operates from 4 kHz to 18 GHz. It has a dynamic range from -60 to +20 dBm and a continuous sampling rate of 25 MHz. The sensor uses Real-Time Power Processing (RTPP) technology which is a unique parallel processing methodology that performs power measurement at unmatched speeds. It can capture, display, and measure every pulse, glitch, and detail with virtually no gaps in data and zero latency. The architecture and incorporation of RTPP enable measurement speeds of 100,000 readings per second. It can be used to measure a wide variety of CW and modulated RF signals, virtually regardless of modulation bandwidths.
The RTP4118 can be controlled directly or through the complimentary Boonton Power Analyzer software that provides advanced measurement and analysis capability. For multiple channel applications, such as MIMO Wi-Fi communications, the sensor can be synchronized and share the same time-base. The sensor is USB-powered with a Type-B (locking) connector and draws less than 500 mA of current. It is available in a module that measures 4.3 x 4.3 x 14.6 cm and has N-type connectors (SMA option also available).
