The Pivot 5G from Pivotal Commware is an RF Repeater for extending, redirecting and shaping mmWave signals from 5G base stations on demand with low latency. It operates from 27.50 to 28.35 GHz and is available as donor units with a range of more than 1000 ft, and as three types of service units. The donor unit and the narrow beam type service unit utilize antennas based on Pivotal’s patented Holographic Beam Forming (HBF) technology to achieve a low cost, size, weight and power consumption profile. The medium and wide beam type service units use horn antennas.
The repeater has an EIRP (Effective Isotropic Radiated Power) of up to 41 dBm, with an end-to-end gain of 95 dB, and a noise figure less than 5 dB. It has an in-band ripple of 2 dB per 100 MHz channel and latency of less than 40 ns. This base station repeater requires a DC supply of 48 V and consumes less than 30 W of power.
The Pivot 5G is available in an IP66-rated pole/wall/roof-mount enclosure that measures 7.7 x 7.0 x 5.0 inches and can be used for indoor as well as outdoor purposes. It can be locally/remotely commissioned and configured using their LTE CAT M1 & Wi-Fi interfaces. The repeater should be used under an FCC license or from an express consent of an FCC licensee, or otherwise could be penalised by the US government.
