The GT-COMPASS-18A from Giga-tronics is a Coherent Multi-Channel Playback Acquisition & Storage System (COMPASS) for Electronic Warfare applications with up to 4 coherent RF channels covering 500 MHz to 18 GHz. It supports any combination of upconversion from IF and down conversion to IF and has excellent spectral purity, phase noise, noise figure, high dynamic range, tuning speed, tuning resolution, and real-time control across a very large RF operating range with high instantaneous bandwidth (1 GHz IBW @ RF/Microwave, 2 GHz IBW @ direct to digital).
This solution is based upon the Giga-tronic’s AXIe-based Advanced Signal Generation and Analysis (ASGA) subsystem that provides a fully coherent multi-channel operation of both the RF Receiver front end and the RF up-converter. It also includes ADC and DAC cards integrated within a high-performance PC workstation. The digital cards operate at 4.8 GS/s and support the capture or playback of the ASGA’s IF signals with up to 1 GHz of instantaneous bandwidth while the workstation can store up to 64 TB of data representing more than 2 hours of record or playback time at full bandwidth. The modular architecture offers the ability to configure the system either for capture only, playback only or both functions combined all within a single integrated solution.
This highly-integrated system is available in a rack mount solution for a lab environment and as a rugged transit case option is for field or range use. The COMPASS is designed for use at all levels of system design, development, verification, validation, and operational testing of Radar and Electronic Warfare (EW) systems. It is suitable for coherent electronic attack development/tests, DRFM-based jammer technique development/tests, advanced coherent EW technique development, real-world environment capture/playback bringing the complex RF environment into the lab, and more.
