The AD9084 from Analog Devices is a highly integrated Mixed Signal Front-End. It has a 16-bit RF digital-to-analog converter (DAC) core with a maximum sample rate of 28 GSPS and a 12-bit RF analog-to-digital converter (ADC) core with a maximum sample rate of 20 GSPS. This front end supports four transmit channels and four receive channels and includes a bypass mode that allows the full bandwidth capability of the ADC and/or DAC cores to bypass the DSP data paths. It features low latency loopback and frequency hopping modes targeted at phased array radar systems and electronic warfare applications. This front-end is suitable for applications requiring both wideband ADCs and DACs to process signal(s) having wide instantaneous bandwidth.
The AD9084 includes a 48-lane, 32.5 Gbps JESD204C or 20 Gbps JESD204B data transceiver port, an on-chip clock multiplier, and a digital signal processing (DSP) capability targeted at either wideband or multiband, direct-to RF applications. It features a power amplifier downstream protection circuitry along with on-chip temperature monitoring unit and TDD power savings option. This front end is available in an 899-ball BGA package that measures 24 x 26 mm and consumes less than 30 W of power. It is ideal for use in radar and communications (L/S/C/X/Ku band radar and electronic warfare, phased array system, broadband communications systems), electronic test and measurement systems, satellite communications, and microwave point-to-point, X-band, and 5G mmWave applications.
