The UDC-1AT1 from CesiumAstro is a credit card sized Up/Down Converter with an RF frequency from 24.5 to 29.5 GHz and an IF frequency from 4.4 to 5.5 GHz. It includes an on-board frequency synthesizer and offers low power consumption. The module supports time division up and down-conversion with 1 GHz of instantaneous bandwidth and the ability to combine IF channels for further flexibility. It includes a high-precision clock for LO generation and can provide this clock as a reference for other modules, or lock to an external system reference.
The Up/Down converter provides a small signal gain of 25 dB and has a dynamic range of 30 dB. In the up-conversion channel, the module delivers an output power of more than 5 dBm and has a noise figure of less than 10 dB. In the down-conversion channel, the module delivers a maximum output power of -10 dBm and has a noise figure of less than 5 dB. It requires a DC supply from 7 to 15 V.
The UDC-1AT1 is available in a compact module that measures 84 x 50 x 13 mm with RS-485 digital interface and is suitable for both military and commercial applications on LEO satellites and airborne platforms. It has thermal pillars to bring heat to a flat surface.
This module can be used as a stand-alone up/down converter or can be combined with other Cesium modules to provide a complete Ka-band communications solution.
