The Lepton3 R3100C from CAEN RFID is an Embedded RAIN RFID Reader for low-power, high-performance applications. It can be programmed to deliver an output power from 10 to 25 dBm and is able to detect RAIN tags at a distance of 2 m depending on the dimension of the antenna and the tags used. The radio frequency core of the module is based on the Impinj E310 IC that achieves fast reading speeds and can be used in the dense reader and tag environments. It is specifically designed to be easily embedded in battery-powered devices. This reader complies with and can operate in both European and US regulatory environments (865.6 - 867.600 MHz ETSI/902 - 928 MHz FCC) with 4 channels compliant to ETSI and 50 hopping channels compliant to FCC.
The R3100C features a serial interface with a UART serial port for connectivity. It requires a DC supply of 5 V and draws 10 mA of current in idle mode. The reader is available in a surface-mount package that measures 29 x 32 x 3.8 mm and is ideal for integration in devices requiring compliance to different geographical regions with its multiregional capabilities. The reader is UHF EPC Class1 Gen2 / ISO 18000-63 compliant and is ideal for applications such as handheld devices, multiregional labels, printers and applicators, points of sale readers, and voice-operated gloves.
