The PTX105R from Panthronics is an NFC Reader System-on-Chip (SoC) that is optimized for IoT devices and networks. It is designed to provide complete NFC reader implementation, including RF physical layer, power management circuit, and on-chip NFC protocol hardware accelerator. This reader SoC can easily achieve interoperability and requires only a small form factor antenna that ensures reliable NFC coupling even in challenging operating environments. It provides easy-to-use, ready-to-go software integration into any terminal/device host MCU architecture that supports all types of NFC protocols, standards, and tag protocols. This NFC reader chipset requires a DC supply from 2.5 to 5.5 V, consumes less than 430 mA of current while transmitting, and 3 μA of current in power-down mode.
The PTX105R uses both peer-to-peer (P2P) and card emulation protocol methods for communicating with NFC-enabled devices. It simplifies antenna tuning operation that enables efficient removal of the second resonating structure introduced by EMI and does not require separate EMI filters. This SoC provides direct antenna connection and uses fewer components to reduce the Bill of Materials (BOM) and assure marginal NFC variation between devices during production. This reader IC includes SPI, I2C, and UART interfaces.
This reader IC delivers an output power of up to 1 W with a sine wave output and has an operating distance of up to 200 mm. It provides accurate digital wave shaping that allows the designers to pass NFC Forum waveform tests with margin and simplifies FCC certification. This chip is available in a QFN56 package and is ideal for gaming consoles, brand protection, gateways, home eID, e-government, transportation terminals, access control, door locks, printing devices, and industrial applications.
