The skID from CAEN RFID is a Portable UHF RAIN RFID Reader with an integrated antenna for medium-range applications. It operates from 865.6 to 867.6 MHz (ETSI EN 302 208 v. 3.1.1) and from 902 to 928 MHz (FCC part 15.247). The reader has a range of 2 m and supports 4 ETSI-compliant channels and 50 FCC-compliant hopping channels. It can operate in both wired and wireless mode, using a USB Type-C cable for the wired connection and Bluetooth for the wireless connection.
The skID can be easily fixed to smartphones using magnets, 3M Dual Lock, or SP-Connect. It is available in a black package that measures 4.4 x 2.4 x 0.63 inches and is ideal for inventory management, mobile workers, service and maintenance applications.
This reader has an ERP of 24 dBm and a circular polarized integrated antenna with a typical antenna gain of 0.0 dBic. It has an internal 1200 mAh rechargeable Li-ion battery with a battery life of more than 12 hours while operating and a standby battery life of over 15 days. The skID can be connected to any Bluetooth enabled host such as a PC, a smartphone, a PDA, or a tablet to transfer the RAIN RFID readings. It is compatible with Windows 8/10, Windows CE/Mobile, Android, and iOS operating systems. The device supports both Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Bluetooth classic communication to provide maximum usage flexibility, including the HID profile for keyboard emulation.
