The TRUNET AN/PRC-162(V)1 from Collins Aerospace is a Dual-Channel Networking Radio. It operates from 30-88 MHz, 1188-137 MHz, 225-450 MHz, 1250-1450 MHz, and 1755-1850 MHz, with the capability to extend coverage up to 2500 MHz in 1.25 kHz steps.
This radio is a versatile software-defined radio (SDR) receiver-transmitter for ground systems and is part of the TruNet networked communications solution family. It integrates two independent channels to support seamless voice and data transmissions for high-speed mobile ad-hoc networks and transmits point-to-point data, voice, and next-generation SATCOM signals (MUOS).
The TRUNET AN/PRC-162(V)1 ensures secure connectivity between the ground and airborne elements across the battlespace in air, sea or land. This SDR delivers mission-critical capability to enable a fully-networked, secure communications and interoperability to increase warfighter survivability and effectiveness. It offers adaptability from man-portable to vehicle-mounted platforms, thereby allowing it to offer unique capabilities while conforming to the latest SDR tenets and architectures.
This dual-channel SDR supports narrowband and wideband waveforms such as AM, FM, VHF/UHF LOS, Saturn Ed4, Sincgars/ESIP, WREN TSM, and WREN NB. The supported waveforms have a narrowband channel bandwidths of 8.33, 12.5, 25, and 50 kHz and wideband channel bandwidths of up to 500 Hz (VHF) and 20 MHz (UHF and L-Band).
The TRUNET radio is equipped with crypto modernization IAW TSCVIS v3.1 and Type-1 (suite A/B) encryption schemes for security. Interfaces are provided for seamless integration with commercial high-power amplifiers, and it feature a multifunctional human-machine interface. In transmit mode, the radio delivers an output power of 20 W (AM, FM, and PM). It complies with all military testing standards and is ideal for military networking applications.
