The URC-300® from General Dynamics is a Software-Defined Transceiver that operates in the UHF/VHF bands (with optional 30-90 MHz frequency band extension). It operates from 115 – 150 MHz (AM), 115 – 173.995 MHz (FM) and 225 – 399.9995 MHz (AM and FM). This transceiver offers versatile VHF/UHF AM and FM capability to provide interoperability with a variety of RF systems. It improves ground-to-air communications with an architecture that enables users to easily upgrade fielded radios. It can operate on both AC and DC (10.7 – 34 V) supplies and can also be battery operated (rechargeable). On a DC supply (28 V), this transceiver consumes less than 2.5 A of current in Tx mode and 360 mA of current in Rx mode.
The URC-300® provides adjacent channel rejection of more than 60 dB and FM Broadcast Intermod Immunity of 95 dB (applies to AM channels only). On the Tx side, it delivers an output power of up to 7 W (AM) and 10 W (FM) which is adjustable in 0.2 W steps. On the Rx side, this transceiver has a sensitivity of -103 dBm (AM voice), -114 dBm (FM voice), and a dynamic range of 118 dB. It has a front panel control and a web-based GUI which allows to easily set and access all parameters. It supports remote control using an SNMP V3 interface and also features a web-based provisioning tool for maintainers.
This transceiver is designed to meet stringent FAA requirements and is certified to MIL-STD-461G EMI/EMC, CE/RoHS/REACH/Radio Equipment Directive, NSN 5820-01-695-9351 and J/F 12: 13243. It is available in an enclosure that measures 11.1 x 8.4 x 3.4 inches and is adaptable to many applications including man-pack, rackmount, vehicular and shipboard. Side-by-side radios can fit into a 19” rack for rackmount applications.
