The AM3163 from Atlanta Micro is a Digitally Tunable Bandpass Filter Bank that operates from 2 to 18 GHz. It consists of an SP4T switch at the input and output that route signals through three separate tunable filter bands and a bypass. The filter passbands are controlled using 16 low-pass and 16 high-pass tuning states for independent control of both the center frequency and bandwidth. This filter has integrated Control Line Filtering, independent low-pass & high-pass control with a 20 GHz bypass path. It has a passband insertion loss of less than 11 dB, a switching speed of 40 ns, and a band tuning speed of 400 ns.
The AM3163 requires a DC supply of 5 V and consumes 6 mA of current and 30 mW of power. It is available in a surface-mount QFN package that measures 6 x 6 mm. This filter bank is an excellent front-end for a receiver providing valuable flexibility for tuning center frequency and bandwidth. Its small size, weight, and power consumption make it ideal for demanding applications requiring low SWaP components.
