The SpectrumSeries RFM3103s from Mercury Systems is a SOSA-Aligned Microwave Dual Upconverter designed for electronic warfare (EW) applications. It upconverts an IF frequency from 1.375 to 2.375 GHz to an RF frequency from 6 to 18 GHz. The dual upconverter offers high dynamic range and performance operation with a low phase noise of -133 dBc/Hz (@100 MHz) and an internal local oscillator. It provides an OP1dB of 30 dBm with a gain of 21 dBm and a noise figure of 23 dB. The device has a tuning speed of 25 µs with a tuning resolution of 10 MHz.
The RFM3103s has been built to meet SOSA specifications which means that this product is designed to meet the latest in open system standards supporting commonality among products for customers. Its design streamlines the deployment of the latest technology by increasing accessibility, efficiency, and maintaining interoperability, and configurability.
The standard configuration of the RFM3103s unit consists of two transmit modules installed on two OpenRFM module sites, with parameters such as instantaneous bandwidth, frequency range, and output power able to be adjusted at the module level. This, combined with the modularity for an up/down converter, allows for easy design modifications, rather than full product redesigns, reducing system cost and time to market. OpenRFM is a modular open architecture that combines hardware, firmware, and software to achieve major improvements in affordability, interoperability and reduced time to market all while maintaining the performance and reliability for the most critical applications.
Optimized for future upgradeability, the RFM3103s is packaged in a low-Swap 3U module and is ideal for electronic attack, ELINT, and beamforming systems. The rugged build is suited for a variety of demanding environments with a broad spectrum of usability supporting greater performance in the field.
