The Saterra from ARA is a Tri-Band VSAT Terminal System that operates from 29 to 31 GHz (Tx) and 19.2 to 21.2 GHz (Rx). It has four reflectors (0.6 m, 0.8 m, 1.0 m, and 1.3 m), a modular feed horn, integrated RF components, AutoAQYR (acquisition), and tripods. This SATCOM terminal offers modularity, allowing designers to change either the band or aperture size in less than five minutes. It supports any L-band modem and also supports other modems that follow the open antenna modem interface protocol (OpenAMIP). This terminal can deliver high-speed data, audio, and video communications services to deployed personnel with an excellent pointing accuracy of less than 0.1°.
The Saterra has a push button to initiate the AutoAQYR acquisition algorithm to obtain satellite lock in less than three minutes. It includes an intuitive GUI that facilitates remote operation of the SATCOM terminal. This VSAT terminal has a ruggedized form factor that ensures reliable operation in harsh environments. It has undergone rigorous test procedures as per MIL-STD-188-164C, FCC 25.209, and the environmental specification MIL-STD-810G for protection against rain, shock, humidity, vibration, and electromagnetic disturbances. The terminal can be configured as a one-person lift, airline-checkable, single-case, or dual-case configuration.
This circularly-polarized VSAT terminal provides a gain of 50.2/46.8 dBi (Tx/Rx), has an azimuth beamwidth of ±30° and an elevation beamwidth from 0° to 90°. It requires an AC supply of 110/240 V or a DC supply of 24 V and consumes less than 40 W of power. The terminal is available in an IP65-rated single or dual IATA-compliant case.
