The STA-60-05-P1 from Sage Millimeter is a Rotary Vane Programmable Attenuator that operates in the G-band (140 to 220 GHz). It has an attenuation range from 0 to 70 dB with 0.05 dB steps between 0 and 20 dB and 0.1 dB steps between 20 and 70 dB. The attenuator has a digital front panel from where the attenuation can be controlled manually, however it can also be remotely controlled via an IEEE-488 (GPIB) or USB port interface. This motorized attenuator has an insertion loss of 3 dB and can handle up to 0.25 W of CW power while operating from a 24 volts supply. The STA-60-05-P1 is available in a module and has a WR-05 waveguide interface with UG-387/U-M flange at the RF ports. It is ideal for test labs and auto test set applications.
The motor control and interface circuits are custom designed and uniquely packaged within the attenuator housing. The microprocessor-based electronics ramp the speed of a precision stepper motor to ensure fast and accurate positioning.
