The MWCT1213A from NXP Semiconductors is a Multi-Coil Wireless Charging Transmitter IC. It is compliant with the latest WPC Qi v1.2.4 specification with extended support for Qi v1.3. This IC supports 2x Qi-certified EPP 15W receivers with a maximum power of 30 W (15 W x 2) and is compatible with a customized fast charge mode. It has on-chip digital demodulation and an optimized charging area to avoid blind-spots for each channel. The IC has a fixed operation frequency to alleviate EMI in automotive systems and has low active & standby modes for power saving. It includes a FOB avoidance function and has operation frequency dithering technology to eliminate AM band interference.
The MWCT1213A includes 2 digital demodulation modules to reduce external components, 2 FSK modulation modules to support two-way communication, a protection module to handle the over-voltage/current/temperature protection, a FOD module to protect from overheating by misplaced metallic foreign objects for each charging device, and general CAN/IIC/SCI/SPI interfaces for external communications. It also handles any abnormal conditions and operational status and provides comprehensive indicator outputs for robust system design. This IC provides complete controller functionality to implement a wireless charging transmitter controller in an automotive environment.
