Noise Figure Analyzers

Noise is an unwanted signal which affects system performance by deteriorating the desired output signal. Accurate and precise measurement of noise improves the signal integrity and it can be performed by measuring the noise figure of a system. A noise figure analyzer can be used to measure the noise figure of an Amplifier, Mixer, Frequency Converter, Radio receiver, or any other device at a selected frequency range.

Noise Figure Analyzer

For different applications, different noise figure measurement methods can be used. The most commonly used method is ‘Y factor method.’ The Y-factor noise measurement technique uses a pre-calibrated noise source with Excess Noise Ratio (ENR), where the ratio of two noise power levels is calculated with noise source ‘ON’ and ‘OFF.’

This process starts with a calibration step in which a noise source is connected to the analyzer input. The analyzer stores the already calibrated values and the calculated values, and then uses this information to normalize its noise figure to 0 dB. After this, the Device Under Test (DUT) is placed in the signal path and then the analyzer measures its noise in both ‘ON’ and ‘OFF’ conditions.

everything RF has listed Noise Figure Analyzers from the leading companies like Keysight Technologies, Ceyear, Micran etc. You can view product specification, download datasheet and request quotes or information on products that meet your requirement.
