A petrochemical company has boosted safety and productivity at two of its facilities with a wireless solution designed to facilitate contact tracing in the event of a positive COVID-19 test. The company's initial priority was related to fostering safety by detecting and enabling the reporting of worker falls, injuries or other problems, and by locating individuals in the event of an emergency. However, the solution also helps to improve productivity by collecting intelligence regarding the locations of workers, which is married to other IoT-based data such as the locations of tools, and by offering analytics so that management can understand how each zone or operation could be better managed.

Choosing the Right RFID Technology for Manufacturing and Harsh Environments
Many companies claim their tags are suitable for harsh environments, but as different as tags are, so are the definitions of "harsh" for various use cases. Standards are difficult to read, however, and tend to show up mostly in the form of strange numbers on datasheets. This presentation will explain the most relevant standards and visualize the test methods associated with each, enabling attendees to better map their needs to data sheet specifications and make the proper tag choice for their particular use cases. RFID Tracks Oil and Gas Equipment as It Is Rented and Returned
A rental equipment and service provider for the oil and gas industry has reduced labor hours and improved efficiency as it assigns, ships and receives back the rental equipment that its oil and gas customers use, thanks to a recently deployed RFID solution. An inventory-counting process that previously took one week and had the potential for errors can now be accomplished within a single hour. The solution consists of UHF RFID tags epoxied to heavy equipment, a handheld reader and an app to enable data regarding goods being rented out or received. Learn how the firm is planning to store other documentation about products in the software, along with their inspection and maintenance histories, thereby automating data related to maintenance tracking.
