Webinar Overview
Massive MIMO has been put forward as one of the most promising potential technologies for 5G networks. Compared to the past technology where the BTS sectors were fixed, Massive MIMO makes it possible to increase data throughput and coverage by bringing beamforming (spatial multiplexing) to the base stations and user devices. Massive MIMO now allows to steer the energy toward an individual user to create a direct link, improve the S/N ratio and the throughput. Such active antenna arrays, scannable and steerable, are essential for 5G base stations and raise new challenges in terms of antenna testing. In this technical webinar, get a concise overview of the key parameters of 5G Massive MIMO BTS and the different methods to measure them.
In this complementary webinar, Mathieu Mercier, Technical Director in MVG Asia Pacific, will give insight on the below topics:
- Difference between passive antennas and active antennas testing
- Test methodologies: FF, CATR, NF
- OTA measurement solution in NF for active antennas
- Measurement examples of AAS and Massive MIMO for EIRP and EIS
- 3GPP Status for AAS Base Station
Presenter Bio:
Mathieu Mercier is the CTO of Microwave Vision Group (MVG) Asia Pacific. A graduate of the famous ENAC - Ecole Nationale de l’Aviation Civile, Mathieu was first employed at Altran as RF engineer in 2000. Since joining SATIMO (which later became MVG) in 2003, Mathieu was responsible to numerous installations of antenna measurement systems in France and in Hong Kong, China. In 2006, He was appointed Managing Director of the Hong Kong office, where he managed a team of 20 people responsible of the sales, project management, installation and customer support of antenna measurement systems in the telecommunications, automotive, aeronautics, space and defense domains. In 2013, he was appointed CTO at MVG Asia Pacific, where he set up in Asia Pacific region of the EMC department responsible of selling and installing shielded chambers and EMC turnkey systems. He is now responsible for the development of new 5G products (Massive MIMO, Active Antennas, etc) in MVG Asia Pacific.
