There is more to the selection of connec-tors than simply selecting a standard type and mounting configura-tion. Good OEM design-ers consider all aspects of the mated jack/plug pair in their specific applica-tion environment, looking beyond their “local” selection to understand the implications of that selection on the end user. Input/output port connector selection is just one part of a larger process that involves the OEM “box” and its interconnection to the rest of the sys-tem via wires.
