RF MEMS System Level Considerations for Optimized Battery Life

This application note focuses on the short battery life of a mobile handset characterized by LTE technology. The power amplifier is a major contributor to LTE handset power consumption as analyzed from the current efficiency point of view. It will be demonstrated that by applying RF MEMS switching solutions a designer can effectively improve efficiency and battery life and benefit LTE wireless technology. RF MEMS benefits will be observed through different aspects of RF front end (RF FE) performance improvements and focus will be given to RF MEMS switch ability to minimize insertion loss.
