The SatCom Industry has used 10 MHz as a reference standard in frequency conversions for decades. In the recent years however, new technical challenges have arrived as new generations of converters work with mmWave frequencies. These require local oscillator references with better phase noise than before due to the phenomenon that the phase noise degrades by 20 dBc/Hz per decade when upscaling the frequency. To meet the future requirements of improved phase noise enabling mmWave frequencies, SMW has developed a new product known as “100 MHz Recovery/Reference Oscillator”, which is designed to take in a 10MHz and recreate a phase locked 100 MHz signal with excellent phase noise.
