In the last couple of years, adoption of artificial intelligence in telecom has increased substantially. We see standards defining architectures to support the use of AI. We see integration of AI into tools for network planning and trouble ticket root cause analysis. AI is being explored and implemented for operations, troubleshooting, predictive maintenance, self-organization, sustainability, and security. Additionally, telecom research is investigating using AI for new state-of-the-art real-time services. As our industry ramps up the deployment of AI in telecom products and tools, we must also ensure that responsible, trustworthy, and ethical principles are met, including defining support and new frameworks into telecom architectures in standards.
