US Navy Upgrades to Record & Playback Solutions from Wideband Systems

The NAVY has chosen the Wideband DRS8500X Recorders from Wideband Systems’ (WSI) for a major system upgrade. The choice has been made after years of research and evaluating numerous TM recorders with the intention of replacing several other previous-generation recorders.

The DRS8500X is the flagship member of the Industry-leading Digital Recording System (DRS) product family. Optimized for the telemetry market, the DRS8500X can record and playback at sustained rates of 4800+ Mbits per second. Both native IRIG-106 CH10 and WSI recording formats are provided. 

Additional features include: 

  • data export and monitoring while recording
  • two removable disk banks (up to 2.4TB/bank with solid-state or hard disk drives
  • flexible recording modes (striped, mirrored, or sequential)
  • IRIG-A/B/G & NASA 36 External 1PPS and 10MHz timing references
  • Gigabit Ethernet networking

This flexible series of disk-based recorders can be ordered with a variety of interfaces and control options tailored to meet most any requirement.
