Flann Microwave Introduces Low-Cost, USB-Controlled Variable Attenuators from 33 to 500 GHz

Flann Microwave, a market leader in waveguide/microwave antennas, precision waveguide components, and test and measurement products operating from megahertz to terahertz frequencies, has introduced the 024 Series of USB-controlled variable attenuators that operate from 33 GHz to 500 GHz. This new model series, consisting of eight attenuators, expands Flann’s range of variable attenuators, providing a high-performance, low-cost solution.

These new attenuators are available in attenuation levels from 0 to 50 dB and ensure an attenuation accuracy 10 dB across the full waveguide band, owing to its improved RF design. They can handle an input power from 50 to 230 mW. These attenuators have an insertion loss of less than 0.7 dB and a VSWR of less than 1.25:1. The below table lists all the eight attenuators in the 024 series.

Attenuation vs. Frequency (Measured) for the 024 Series

The unique USB-control feature provides quick and repeatable change in attenuation while also allowing the possibility to seamlessly incorporate the unit into larger and/or OEM systems. Enhanced possibility of full band attenuation mapping will allow attenuation correction through the supply of .s2p files.

The attenuators are available in multiple WG and WR waveguide sizes for better flexibility.
