Filtronic Adds Two New Production Lines to Support the Increased Demand for its RF Modules

Filtronic, a UK based company developing high-performance RF and mmWave technologies, has responded to the growing demand of products by installing two new production lines at its NETPark facility in Sedgefield. The expanded capacity will support the production of cutting-edge RF modules, including newer product lines designed to serve emerging frequencies and bandwidths. Furthermore, these lines offer the flexibility to support New Product Introduction (NPI), ramping up the production of established products as well as providing the potential to bring new products into full scale production.

The introduction of these additional production lines - each equipped with dual head capability - will increase productivity by 50-75%, marking a significant boost in capacity as the company continues to grow, driven by a series of major contract wins with global industry leaders. The new production lines will operate in a state-of-the-art Class 7 cleanroom environment, defined under ISO 14644-1 as a controlled environment. It will also be fully operational with 24/7 staffing, adding 12 skilled employees to the team.

This increased capacity is crucial as Filtronic continues to secure significant contracts, including recent high-profile partnerships with leading global innovators SpaceX — and other key players in aerospace and defence

This strategic investment comes as an intermediary measure, ahead of Filtronic’s move to a purpose-built facility scheduled for early next year. Filtronic is moving to a larger facility in County Durham, UK, which will double the company’s manufacturing footprint and significantly expand its production capabilities, while enhancing cleanroom areas, engineering laboratories and testing facilities.

"Meeting the increased production demand is our priority, and we are committed to maintaining our high standards of operational excellence," said Mark Black, Chief Operations Officer at Filtronic. "With NETPark’s flexibility, we can grow both in the short and long term. These two new lines are vital to supporting our recent successes and will allow us to further scale our output.”

Filtronic’s hybrid manufacturing expertise, combined with the new capacity, positions the company to not only meet current demand but also to take on new, larger-scale projects too.

The company develops RF solutions for next-generation platforms, which require high levels of performance and reliability. These advancements will be further accelerated by the additional production capacity, helping Filtronic meet the needs of its customers.
