Isotropic Systems has engaged in a strategic technology development agreement with Inmarsat to develop a state-of-the-art, all electronic scanning antenna for potential use with Inmarsat’s growing constellation of high-throughput Global Xpress satellites. The partnership shows Inmarsat’s confidence in Isotropic Systems’ disruptive optical array technology and its market-focused business plan to expand the range of future mobility applications supported by the global high-throughput satellite (HTS) capacity now delivered by Inmarsat’s Ka-band Global Xpress network.
Isotropic Systems’ transformational technology will produce a next generation low-cost, fully electronic tracking terminal that will allow Inmarsat to extend its reach into new market sectors. Inmarsat is working with Isotropic Systems to develop a range of terminal solutions to further enable the company’s network of channel partners. Isotropic Systems will develop terminals specifically tailored to Inmarsat’s requirements with special focus on multi-beam capability, providing market-leading instantaneous bandwidth, as well as significantly lower pricing and power consumption. This innovative capability will allow Inmarsat to maintain two simultaneous satellite links for capacity enhancement and seamless handovers across both existing and future Global Xpress HTS satellites.
