PCTEL Announces Dynamic Spectrum Sharing Capabilities to Accelerate 5G-NR Rollout

At MWC Los Angeles last week, PCTEL announced new testing capabilities to support 4G/5G Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS) and accelerate 5G New Radio (NR) rollouts. Dynamic spectrum sharing enables operators to use the same spectrum for both 4G LTE and 5G NR. PCTEL's scanning receivers simultaneously test both 4G LTE and 5G NR coverage and signal quality so that operators can deploy dynamic spectrum sharing with confidence.

Dynamic spectrum sharing is particularly important for operators in the United States, who will use it to provide broader 5G coverage on shared sub-6 GHz spectrum and to facilitate migration from non-standalone to standalone 5G networks. PCTEL developed their DSS feature to meet demand from wireless operators who trust their test and measurement solutions to help deploy 5G NR networks.

4G/5G dynamic spectrum sharing testing is available on new and existing HBflex and IBflex scanning receivers. HBflex scanning receivers also support mm-Wave 5G NR deployments with fast measurement rates suitable for full-speed drive testing. PCTEL demonstrated its test and measurement solutions for 5G NR, LTE, and other wireless technologies at MWC Los Angeles last week.
