Development of a new product usually starts from an idea or concept, followed by several design steps. In this article, a simple single-loop PLL example is used to demonstrate the most important aspects of the design process, beginning with a specification and block diagram, then proceeding to schematic, PCB layout, assembly, troubleshooting, testing, and documentation release.
