What frequency bands have been allocated to 5G in Greece?
The 700 MHz, 2 GHz, 3400 – 3800 MHz (n78) and 26 GHz (n258) bands have been allocated for 5G in Greece. Hellenic Telecommunications and Post Commission (EETT) issued a public consultation for granting rights to these frequency bands on 6th February, 2020
5G Frequency bands in Greece
The auction of 5G wireless spectrum has been delayed due to COVID-19 pandemic and is expected to be completed by the end of 2020. EETT is considering awarding 2×30 MHz spectrum chunks in the 700 MHz band, 65 MHz in the 1500 MHz band, 2×15 MHz in the 2100 MHz band, 280 MHz in 3.6 GHz, and up to 2,500 MHz in the 28 GHz Band (n258).
The Government of Greece has already made an announcement on freeing the 700 MHz Band for 5G mobile service in 2019.
