What frequency bands have been allocated for 5G in Mexico?
The Federal Institute of Telecommunications (IFT) of Mexico has allocated the 700 MHz band and 2.5 GHz (n41) band for 5G Use in the country. They are also considering using the 600 MHz, 1900 MHz, 2.3 GHz (n40) and 3.3 GHz (n78) bands for 5G. In April, 2019 IFT stated that the 26 GHz, 38 GHz, 42 GHz, 48 GHz and 51 GHz bands can potentially be used for 5G implementation in the future.
IFT auctioned the 700 MHz band and allocated 120 MHz of 2.5 GHz (n41) band to AT&T and Telefonica in October, 2018.
However, the 5G auction for 600 MHz frequency band (614–698 MHz), which was supposed to take place in 2020, has been postponed till 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
