The LoRa Alliance has specified two frequency bands for LoRa technology in China. These bands are the CN470-510 from 470 to 510 MHz and the CN779-787 from 779 to 787 MHz. The standard frequency range is allotted, as per the FCC guidelines.

Band 1 - CN470-510 (470 to 510 MHz)

In China, the CN470-510 band is the 470 MHz ISM-band which can be used for Civil Metering applications. It is divided into the following channel plans:

BandTypeChannelsFrequencyBandwidth
CN470-510Uplink0 to 95 (96 Channels)470.3 to 489.3 MHz (200 kHz increments)125 kHz

Downlink0 to 47 (48 Channels)

500.3  to 509.7 MHz (200 kHz increments)

125 kHz

The end devices associated with CN470-510 operate in the 470 to 510 MHz band and use a channel data structure to store the information for 96 uplink channels. Each channel data structure corresponds to a particular frequency and a set of data rates usable on this frequency. For all the personalized devices, all the 96 channels should be enabled, including a reset. The LoRaWAN technology can be used in the 470 MHz band, as long as:

  • The radio device EIRP (Equivalent Isotropically Radiated Power) is less than 19.15 dBm.
  • The transmission should not last more than 5000 ms.

Band 2 - CN779-787 (779 - 787 MHz)

The end devices associated with the CN779-787 band operate from 779.5 to 786.5 MHz band and use a channel data structure to store the information for at least 16 channels. Each channel data structure corresponds to a particular frequency and a set of data rates usable on this frequency. The LoRaWAN can be used in CN779-787 band as long as the EIRP is less than 12.15 dBm and the transmit duty cycle is lower than 1%.
