What is the Q Band?

Q Band (as defined by ISO)

The Q-Band is not officially recognized by IEEE or ITU, however, it is recognized by ISO as the frequency range from 36 to 46 GHz. This frequency band lies between the IEEE Ka-Band (26.5–40 GHz) and V-Band (40–75 GHz). The Q-band is used for a wide range of applications including satellite communications, terrestrial microwave communications, radio astronomy studies and automotive radars.

Since the frequency range of the Q-Band is higher than the Ka-Band, applications using this band can be designed to have a higher thruput and smaller component sizes.
