When three regular isolators are connected in a series in a single package, it is called as a triple junction isolator. These isolators are used when greater isolation is needed. The resultant forward insertion loss and isolation of the triple junction isolator will the sum of the individual isolator losses and isolations.

Triple Junction Isolators are usually more compact and cheaper than using three individual isolators. However, there are some advantages to using three individual isolators like, a larger surface area that allows for better heat dissipation. Also, when three isolators are used separately, complete control of the impedance matching between stages can be achieved by having access to all isolator ports.
