ERA-GLONASS is a Russian automated emergency response system that combines mobile communications and satellite positioning to provide rapid assistance to motorists in the event of a collision. This system will reduce emergency services’ time-to-arrival by up to 30%, saving up to 4,000 additional lives every year. It is the Russian equivalent of eCall which was launched in Europe and made mandatory by the EU.

The ERA-GLONASS Accident Emergency Response System was commissioned in January 2015 and it came into effect on January 1st, 2017, prescribing that all passenger and freight vehicles being released for circulation inside Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) borders for the first time be equipped with emergency call devices (systems).

Russian ERA-GLONASS and EU's eCall have similar functionality and thus are forming a common road safety space throughout Russia and EU member states.
