MiFi is a portable cellular device that works as a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot. It has an integrated Wi-Fi router and a cellular modem. Laptops and other devices that do not have a cellular modem can connect to a MiFi device using WiFi. The MiFi device connects to the cellular network and enables other devices to access the network by connecting to the MiFi device. It is like the tethering feature on mobile devices.

MiFi is a registered trademark name owned by Novatel Wireless in countries like United States, Canada, and Mexico. This trademark is owned by Hutchison 3G in United Kingdom.
