The time taken by a switch to go from an ON state to an OFF state or from an OFF state to an ON state is called switching speed or switching time. The switching time is specified by the Rise/Fall time and the On/Off time and is usually represented in milli seconds or nano seconds.
Rise/ Fall Time
The time taken for the RF power passing through the switch when turning on to reach from the 10% to 90% of the final value is called as Rise Time. The time taken by the RF power passing through the switch to reach from 90% to 10% of the final value is called as Fall Time.
ON/ OFF Time
The ON time is the time it takes the input control signal to from 50% of its value to 90% of its value. This is the time it takes the switch to move from an OFF state to an ON State.
The OFF time is the time it takes the input control signal to from 50% of its value to 10% of its value. This is the time it takes the switch to move from an ON state to an OFF State.
