Crane Aerospace & Electronics Microwave Solutions has launched a series of Ku-Band Isolator-Dividers designed for use in satellite applications. The units combine the function of high performance power divider with a ferrite isolator to provide a high isolation power divider solution without the use of external isolators and complex switch configurations. Integration of the two functions into a single package provides enhanced product reliability due to fewer external components, interconnects and transitions. The power divider and the isolator have been carefully matched in a compact light weight package to provide better overall performance compared to a non-integrated modular approach. The Iso-Dividers are also magnetically shielded, which ensure that there is no static field leakage to perturb other devices that may be used on a space craft.
The first product from this series was a 2 Way Iso-Power Divider that was released in March 2014. This was then followed by the 1281D4-M01 which is a Ku-Band 4 Way Isolator-Divider. The four way divider operates from 10.7 to 14.8 GHz with a low insertion loss of 1.2 dB, isolation over 38 dB and can handle up to 2 watts of power. Future plans are for this product line to offer Iso-Dividers and Iso-Combiners in various configurations (6 and 8 ports). These versions will be developed and released as market demand is validated.
The four way Iso-Divider was showcased at the IMS 2014 in Tampa, Florida in the 1st week of June. A video from the event can be seen below.
