ION GNSS+ 2020 Event to be Held Both Physically and Virtually

The ION GNSS+ event which focuses on GNSS and other positioning, navigation and timing technologies, has announced that the event will take place in St. Louis, Missouri from the 21 to 25 of September 2020 as well as virtually. Considering the current situation due to the pandemic and recognizing that some won’t be able to attend ION GNSS+ 2020 due to restrictions and with the goal of increasing global accessibility to everyone who wants to participate, the organizers of the event, will offer a virtual option as well.

The ION GNSS+ 2020 virtual option will mirror the technical program being presented live from September 21-25 in St. Louis, Missouri, giving access to the latest GNSS developments and premium content through an innovative and timely online experience. Virtual meeting attendance will be free for all first-time ION GNSS+ attendees.

Keynote Plenary and Panel Sessions

Two session tracks will be live streamed, including the keynote plenary session; all panel sessions, including the much-anticipated Status of the Systems Update panel; and a mix of other sessions from various technical tracks. Virtual attendees will be invited to participate in a moderated Q&A. Sessions that will be live streamed have been notated on the online program.

Technical Sessions

All technical sessions will be audio-recorded as they are happening live in St. Louis, Missouri and uploaded with slides to the ION GNSS+ 2020 virtual conference site. Virtual attendees will have the option of viewing all technical presentations on demand and on their own schedule. The virtual conference option does not include the pre-conference tutorials or pre-conference short courses. Virtual attendees will receive the official ION GNSS+ 2020 Conference Proceedings.

To ensure a quality experience for on-site conference attendees, all scheduled technical papers will be presented by authors in-person in St. Louis. To ensure the quality of the ION GNSS+ 2020 experience for conference attendees in St. Louis, the conference will not include pre-recorded or off-site virtual presentation of technical papers.

Exhibit Experience

Recognizing that the on-site industry partners want to connect with ION GNSS+ 2020 virtual attendees, ION is providing an expanded online exhibitor profile that will allow exhibitors to upload a complete company profile with sales and contact information, upload their company logo and company brochures, and will include a link that allows attendees to email an exhibitor directly to ask questions or set up a phone or virtual appointment. In addition, exhibitors can record and post their own exhibitor demonstration to their profile.

Companies that purchased an island booth will be provided the opportunity to live stream an exhibitor demonstration during a scheduled conference break. All exhibiting companies will be able to post a URL to their own pre-recorded exhibitor demonstration to their profile. ION GNSS+ exhibitors will receive contact information for all first-time virtual attendees, for the purpose of facilitating communications between exhibitors and virtual meeting registrants.

FREE Virtual Conference Registration for First-time Attendees

Wanting to make ION GNSS+ available to a broader global audience, the Institute of Navigation is offering FREE virtual conference registrations for ION GNSS+ first-time attendees. Virtual conference attendees attending for free will be required to provide ION and all ION GNSS+ 2020 exhibitors with their full contact information for marketing purposes.

Virtual Conference Registration, COVID-19 Economic Impact Discount Available

If an organization or a visitor requires assistance to enable participation in ION GNSS+ 2020, ION is offering a COVID-19 Economic Impact Discount for the virtual option. This discount is being made possible through the ION reserve fund, established to provide financial stability for ION’s programs in unusual circumstances. If an organization has already budgeted for you to attend and/or if you do not require the discount, we encourage you to select the “Virtual Registration.” This will allow the reserve funds to be available for others who require them to participate. This discount is available, and can be applied, during the online registration process.
