High accuracy timing and synchronization signals are an essential requirement in mission-critical IT systems, which is why leading military aerospace companies are using ViaLite RF over fiber (RFoF) distributed GPS/GNSS equipment.
The ViaLite GNSS/GPS over fiber link allows for timing distribution and accurate synchronization using GPS-derived timing signals. The links are a reliable method for transporting GPS signals from antennas to receivers/re-radiators, and provide a simple solution for signal distribution over long distances and to inaccessible locations.
ViaLite’s GPS lossless distributed multi-port fiber optic links are being used to simultaneously transport the company’s timing signals from GPS antennas to multiple S650 GPS referenced Network Time Protocol (NTP) time servers, for timing-test support in a military aeronautics application.
Equipment being used includes ViaLite’s first-to-market, Multizone Lossless Splitters – providing GPS optical splitting (1x8, 1x16 and 1x32) – and the new 1U chassis with Local Integrated GPS Splitters (1×8, 2×8, 4×8, 1×16, 2×16). ViaLite’s compact Blue OEM modules were also supplied for the link receiver side.
ViaLite director of sales Craig Somach commented that, ViaLite equipment was chosen for its leading-edge performance, which also provides a very cost-effective manner in which to send GPS/GNSS signals from one antenna to multiple remote locations.
