Marki Microwave Introduces Small Formfactor Balun from 10 MHz to 20 GHz

Marki Microwaves has introduced a 1:2 surface-mount Balun that operates from 10 MHz to 20 GHz. The BAL-0020SLG provides an excellent phase balance of 5 degrees (typical) at 20 GHz and an amplitude balance of up to 1.2 dB. It has an insertion loss of less than 7 dB, a common mode rejection of 35 dB and provides an isolation of 12 dB.

New differential ADCs and DACs are offering wider bandwidths and operating at higher frequencies, necessitating the development of equally impressive baluns (transformers). This new balun has the bandwidth (10 MHz to 20 GHz) to showcase the true capabilities of the market's best data converters, enabling demanding applications such as wideband electronic warfare.

This expertly hand built ferrite/transmission line design is only 0.2" wide with a low profile 0.11" height to accommodate the shrinking confines of modern multi-channel architectures. This balun complements other recent releases from Marki: BAL-0012SSG (10MHz-12GHz, their smallest wirewound balun), BALH-0012SSG (1:1 version), MBAL-0220SM (2-20GHz, 4mm MMIC), and MBAL-1445SM (14-45GHz, 4mm MMIC).

Marki Microwave has been the premier manufacturer of microwave mixers worldwide for over two decades, offering the industry's most comprehensive line of signal processing products up to 110 GHz. Marki's extensive product line includes mixers, doublers, multipliers, amplifiers, bias tees, filters, directional couplers, quadrature hybrids and power dividers.
