Laird announced that their LTE/MIMO antennas will be installed in a major domestic automobile manufacturer’s North American vehicles by the beginning of 2015. The Laird antennas enable 4G/LTE cellular connection to mobile devices, infotainment and safety options inside the vehicle. The installation of the LTE/MIMO antennas allows automobile manufacturers to offer many features of a connected vehicle - Enhanced cellular connectivity and data throughput, allowing for faster upload and download speeds. They also support satellite radio, Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) along with AM/FM radio in a single antenna solution.
The Laird antennas enable infotainment, safety and diagnostic systems, providing connected cars with features that tap into the internet and provide information to the driver about speed, accidents or traffic.
