Comtech Telecommunications announced that its Santa Clara, California-based subsidiary, Comtech Xicom Technology, has received a $2.5 million order to supply solid-state high-power amplifiers to a military integrator. The order was for a new high power Gallium-Nitride (GaN) based SSPA product that will upgrade existing transportable satellite communications (SATCOM) systems providing voice, data, video conferencing, internet and high resolution video connectivity for deployed military forces. Comtech Xicom’s rugged, compact SSPA features robust designs ensuring highly efficient and reliable operation in challenging environments.
Comtech Xicom has developed a critical piece of hardware needed to upgrade an already proven military network. The team worked closely with the customer to ensure that the product would meet the especially challenging requirements on this program and also meet the schedule needs of the end customers. As a result, Comtech Xicom now offers the leading product of its kind with this SSPA and will have a large fielded base demonstrating its robustness. The factory has ramped up to deliver these amplifiers quickly, as Comtech continue to expand their business with the military OEM customers.
Comtech Xicom Technology manufactures a wide variety of tube-based and solid-state power amplifiers for military and commercial satellite uplink applications. The product range encompasses power levels from 8 W to 3 kW, with frequency coverage in sub-bands within the 2 GHz to 45 GHz spectrum. Amplifiers are available for fixed and ground-based, ship-board, and airborne mobile applications.
