High measurement speeds are crucial for production testing of wireless communications components. At electronica 2014 Rohde & Schwarz showcased two new instruments that deliver the required speed. The R&S SGT100A is the smallest and fastest vector signal generator up to 6 GHz. It includes an integrated baseband generator with up to 160 MHz bandwidth. The compact R&S FPS signal and spectrum analyzer series that has an upper frequency limit of 4, 7, 13, 30 or 40 GHz and an analysis bandwidth up to 160 MHz. It offers test applications for all of the key mobile and wireless standards. The R&S SGT100A and R&S FPS can be combined to generate and demodulate even IEEE 802.11ac WLAN signals. Together, they achieve extremely short measurement times when testing RF components such as the output amplifiers used in mobile phones.
