Remcom is organizing a webinar on October 7th from 10:00 to 11:00 AM ET and October 12th, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM ET on Smart Home Device Design and WiFi Connectivity Using EM Simulation. Recent advances in smart devices and communication technologies offer a variety of innovative smart home solutions. The smart home concept includes establishing reliable links between various devices including speakers, thermostats, doorbells, and cameras.
This webinar will demonstrate the strengths of Remcom’s XFdtd and Wireless InSite in analyzing the performance of a wireless fidelity smart speaker (access point, or “AP”) used for home networking and a generic remote camera that provides video surveillance around the house for security monitoring. These user devices are designed in XF with the intent of connecting to a WiFi system that covers the 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax standards at frequencies of 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz. The WiFi system includes two multiband conformal antennas that transmit high-resolution videos.
Wireless InSite is then used to perform a throughput analysis of the array(s) created in XF in the indoor smart home scenario. This covers a variety of Wireless InSite's capabilities, including importing XF's MIMO data, Wireless InSite’s method for performing MIMO propagation simulations, and the MIMO techniques available in the Communications Systems analysis toolbox for calculating metrics such as SNR and throughput. The results are then used to compare the effectiveness of these methods in different use cases, focusing on options for Receiver Diversity Combining, Beamforming, and Closed-Loop Spatial Multiplexing.
Key Takeaways Expected from this Webinar
- Learn how to design and simulate smart home devices in XFdtd
- Utilize array optimization to analyze beamforming capabilities of smart home devices
- Export critical antenna outputs to import into Wireless InSite for propagation analysis
- Set up MIMO access points and user devices in a smart home environment
- Utilize Wireless InSite’s Comms Analysis toolbox to assess throughput performance via several MIMO techniques.
