5G or the fifth generation of cellular networking technology was developed to provide greater speed, low latency, and high reliability over its predecessors. 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project) has developed 5G new radio (NR), a new radio access technology aimed at becoming the global standard for 5G networks. 5G FR1 refers to low and mid-frequency bands in the sub-7 GHz range, whereas 5G FR2/mmWave refers to higher-frequency bands above 24 GHz.
