AtlanTecRF has announced a new series of Satellite Communications Test Loop Translators for use in X-Band applications. This new range of Test Loop Translators provide direct frequency conversion either from transmit (Tx) to receive (Rx) or from transmit (Tx) to L-band (L) or from L-band (L) to receive (Rx) in the nominal frequency ranges of 7.9-8.4 GHz Tx and 7.25-7.75 GHz Rx.
The translation of the 500 MHz band is achieved with double balanced mixing and usually a fixed frequency local oscillator (LO). Although, if frequencies outside this nominal band are required for the same 950-1450 MHz L-band, there is a standard option to specify a synthesised variable frequency local oscillator.
Each unit comes with the choice of either a manually or digitally controlled attenuator.
- Manually controlled, front panel mounted, variable attenuator with 30dB range in order to back-off the input signal to a manageable level.
- Digitally controlled attenuator with up to 64dB range in steps as low as 0.25dB for both local and remote operation.
Control of the TLTs in both frequency (if applicable) and attenuation terms can be achieved either directly from the front panel or remotely via ethernet with a convenient and clear GUI. Some of the more important specification options include switchable internal and external 10 MHz reference frequency, 0 dB conversion gain, coaxial or waveguide input and output connectors, 19”x1U rack mount or weatherproof outdoor housings, high isolation input/output filtering and premium phase noise LO.
Standard input power is 80-240V AC but there are also options for DC input and for the instrument to be fully portable with internal rechargeable batteries. Dual redundant diode controlled power supplies are also available as a standard option.
A key feature of this range of satellite communication Test Loop Translators is the extensive list of standard options which allow customer choice to configure what might otherwise be considered a custom product.
