Akoustis Technologies, Inc. (“Akoustis'' or the “Company”), an integrated device manufacturer (IDM) of patented bulk acoustic wave (BAW) high-band RF filters for mobile and other wireless applications, has received two design wins for Wi-Fi 6E XBAW filter products for the gaming market. Both design wins are for products that are expected to go into production by mid-calendar 2023.
One of the design wins is for a specialized gaming router, using a multiple-user-multiple-in-multiple-out (MU-MIMO) architecture. The other design win is for a leading end-user gaming platform that will use Wi-Fi 6E connectivity to enhance data-throughput speed and provide lower latency than current generation products.
Jeff Shealy, founder and CEO of Akoustis, stated, “Our Wi-Fi 6E products are beginning to generate interest outside of our core router market, and we are pleased to have two design wins in the growing gaming market.” Mr. Shealy added, “We continue to advance and improve our XBAW technology and expect to continue to win new platforms across the Wi-Fi ecosystem, in both infrastructure and end-user devices.”
Akoustis is currently ramping up commercial production and is investing to achieve an annual production capacity of approximately 500 million units. Akoustis is actively delivering volume production of its Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E tandem filter solutions, shipping multiple 5G small cell XBAW filter solutions and delivering initial designs of its new 5G mobile filter solutions to multiple customers. To date, Akoustis has received more than 20 customer design wins for its patented XBAW filter solutions.
