NuWaves Engineering has announced a new linear bidirectional amplifier (BDA) for OFDM radios at the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) Unmanned Systems 2015 Trade Show. The NuPower Xtender 12E06A model is a broadband, small, lightweight and cost-effective solution for high-performance S-band Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) transceivers with Mobile Ad hoc Networking (MANET) and/or Multiple-Input and Multiple-Output (MIMO) technology.
This bidirectional amplifier operates from 1980 MHz to 2500 MHz and generates 12 Watts of RF power for QPSK modulated signals, 6.3 Watts for 16QAM, and 2.5 Watts for 64QAM. With 25 dB of RF transmit gain and 12 dB of receive gain, the Xtender 12E06A bidirectional amplifier operates seamlessly with several commercially-available OFDM transceivers. Measuring 4.00 x 2.00 x 0.65 inch, the bidirectional amplifier’s ruggedized aluminum chassis is compact, and light enough for integration into a wide variety of small aerial, sea and ground-based platforms, including Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (SUAS).
